The Best Meepo V5 Accessories and Upgrades
Caleb LeachShare
The Meepo V5 is a great board out of the box. A few add-ons make it a lot better for everyday riding, commuting, and riding when the weather isn't perfect. Here's what I'd add, in the order I'd add it.
1. Fenders (mud guards)
Yes, I make these, so take that into account. But I make them because the V5 doesn't come with fenders, and on wet or dusty roads the wheels throw spray and grit straight up onto the deck, the electronics underneath, and you.
Skate Flaps are front and rear fenders made specifically for the Meepo V5. They're flexible, durable TPU, they go on in a few minutes with the included skate tool, and they keep water, mud, and grit off you and your board.
2. A helmet you'll actually wear
The V5 is fast. A certified helmet is the most important thing on this list. Get one comfortable enough that you never leave it at home.
3. Wrist guards or gloves
When you fall, your hands hit first. Wrist guards or palm-protected gloves save a lot of skin and a lot of sprained wrists.
4. Lights
If you ride at dusk or after dark, a front light and a rear light make you visible to cars and help you spot cracks and debris. Bright colors help during the day too.
5. Spare bearings and a skate tool
Bearings wear out, especially if you ride in wet or dusty conditions. Keep a spare set and a skate tool around so a gritty bearing doesn't take your board out of commission for a week.
6. A good way to carry it
The V5 isn't light. A carry strap or a backpack that can hold a board makes the walk from the bus stop or up the stairs a lot easier.
Where I'd start
Besides safety gear, if you're getting one thing for your V5, make it fenders. It's the upgrade you'll notice the first time the road is wet. You can see everything in our Meepo V5 accessories collection.
